Dr. Rowley was the Director of Medical Education at a large metropolitan teaching hospital with 240 residents and 11 residency programs. She provided supervision and assistance for all programs in undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, continuing medical education, medical library, research, and new educational initiatives. All residency programs, the institution, and the CME programs were fully accredited.
With over 30 years experience in medical education including many years working with community hospitals and community teaching hospitals, she has completed many successful accreditation cycles for both GME and CME and helped others through the process.
In the early years of her career, Dr Rowley provided needs based CME for the rural community physicians of a western state. As the Director of Medical Education at a major teaching hospital, Dr. Rowley took over a CME program that was about to lose its state accreditation. Within 18 months the program had full national accreditation. In addition to regular programs for a staff of over 250 physicians, the CME office ran eight to ten large national programs each year
As a contractor for the AMA, Division of Continuing Physician Professional Development, Dr. Rowley recently wrote portions and managed the development of the AMA Gifts to Physicians from Industry CME educational program located on the AMA website.
She has over thirty years in various faculty and administrative positions in both academic and medical settings. Extensive experience in administration; research data systems development and operation; program development and operation for minority health careers, health care teams, health maintenance and health education, rural health, and course and curriculum development; grants writing and management; policy analysis and development; as well undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education. She also has experience in community organization and development as well as clinical social work.Dr Rowley has numerous research publications in national peer reviewed journals, is a co-editor of four books, one book chapter, and three nationally recognized computerized data systems. She is an experienced grant writer with over $10 million in grants and contracts
She is past and present member of the Board of Directors of several national professional organizations, including the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Council of Academic Societies, the American Rural Health Association, the Association of Behavioral Sciences and Medical Education and Association for Hospital Medical Education. She has organized and directed three national professional conferences and numerous continuing medical education meetings. Her doctorate is in medical behavioral sciences. |
